MP Pushes for Telecom Hub in Gwalior, Eyes ₹12,000 Cr Investment & 5,000 Jobs

In a significant move to boost telecom infrastructure and investments, the Madhya Pradesh government has proposed the creation of a Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) in Gwalior. The plan, which is currently under review by the central government, is projected to bring in over ₹12,000 crore in investments and generate more than 5,000 jobs in the region.
To catalyze momentum in the sector, the state will host the Tech Growth Conclave 2025 on April 27 in Indore. This high-profile event, organised by the Department of Science and Technology, is set to transform investment promises from the Global Investors Summit 2025 into tangible projects. Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla confirmed that the conclave will act as a platform to attract large-scale investments and spotlight Gwalior and Jabalpur as emerging telecom and tech hubs.
The state Cabinet has already discussed the TMZ proposal and is hopeful of central approval. The zone will be developed over a large expanse of land and will serve as a strategic hub to manufacture and innovate in the telecom space.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will preside over the conclave, which is expected to attract over 300 key players from the telecom, IT, semiconductor, and drone industries. The event will unveil a roadmap for Madhya Pradesh’s technological evolution, including:
Launch of four new policy frameworks to improve the investment environment
Groundbreaking ceremony for IIT Indore
Inauguration of a new AI-based Centre of Excellence
Signing of new MoUs to establish state-of-the-art labs for Animation, VFX, Gaming, and XR
Additionally, the event will feature the foundation laying of Jabalpur IT Park Block B, a 25 crore project poised to create 500+ jobs. MoUs with institutions such as MANIT Bhopal, IISER Bhopal, and IIITM Gwalior will establish Centres of Excellence in AI, semiconductors, drones, and cybersecurity.
A dedicated investment portal will also be launched to streamline project tracking and enhance investor transparency.
With such initiatives, Madhya Pradesh is rapidly positioning itself as a national innovation powerhouse, and the Gwalior TMZ could soon become a cornerstone of India’s telecom manufacturing ecosystem.
