Gwalior – The world is witnessing a rapid telecommunication revolution, and India is positioning itself as a global leader in this transformation. Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia emphasized on Saturday that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is not just adopting new technologies — it's shaping their global future.
“The rollout of 5G technology has already covered 82% of the population across 99% of India’s districts within just 22 months,” Scindia noted. “And now, India will take the lead in tailoring the regulatory framework for 6G technology.”
He further highlighted advancements in the postal system, stating, “India Post is not just a traditional mail service anymore. It is one of the largest logistics and distribution networks in the world, with over 1.64 lakh post offices and 2.5 lakh postal workers." Scindia also recalled designing the Department of Posts logo in 2008 with the slogan: “Postal Service is Public Service.”
Celebrating World Telecommunication and Information Society Day on May 17, he emphasized the significance of bridging the digital divide and embracing internet-led transformation. The day serves to raise awareness about the social changes driven by digital innovation and the need for inclusive technological growth.
On another note, Scindia endorsed the ongoing citizen-led boycott of Turkiye and Azerbaijan, following their support for Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. “This is the will of the people,” he said. “When it comes to national interest and security, the nation comes first — and no citizen will compromise on that.”
