The BRICS Communication Ministers' Meeting, recently held in Brasilia, was deemed "quite successful" by TDP leader and Union Minister of State for Communication, Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar. Representing India at the international forum, Sekhar spotlighted the country's rapid and transformational progress in telecom infrastructure.

"I have listened to ten other countries about how they have been doing with their telecom infrastructure. I am proud to say India has achieved something unthinkable. We have connected more than 95% of India. We have high-quality fibre to almost every village. We have more than 80% with 5G connections," said Sekhar.

"We explained to the world all the best practices we have done, all the satellite-based reforms we have implemented, and the preventive actions taken against telecom fraud. All in all, it’s quite successful, and we are one of the countries that have done much more than many others."
Sekhar’s remarks reinforced India’s emergence as a global telecom leader, with the nation’s innovations and reforms earning international recognition during the high-level discussions in Brazil.
Simultaneously, India continued its active engagement in BRICS diplomacy across sectors. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also traveled to Brasilia to represent India at the 11th BRICS Parliamentary Forum, held from June 3 to June 5. His participation underlined India's commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation on strategic global issues.
During the forum, Birla will speak on key themes such as “Responsible and Inclusive Artificial Intelligence (AI)” and reform of the multilateral peace and security architecture. He is also scheduled to engage in bilateral discussions with presiding officers from BRICS nations.

- Strengthening Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation
- Global Health Partnerships
- Climate and Sustainability Dialogue
A Joint Statement will be adopted at the forum’s conclusion, further reinforcing collective goals among BRICS nations.
