BSNL’s 4G Push Gets a Boost: Ministers Lead Strategic Review on Network & Enterprise Growth
In a strategic move to reinforce the growth trajectory of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia and Minister of State Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani chaired a detailed performance review with BSNL’s senior leadership and Department of Telecommunications (DoT) officials.
The focus? Strengthening BSNL’s operational backbone and fast-tracking its 4G rollout to keep pace with evolving market demands. The review also highlighted the telecom PSU’s efforts in re-engaging with customers and stepping up its enterprise service offerings.
Enhancing service delivery across mobile and FTTH networks
Rebuilding trust across rural, urban, and enterprise customer segments
Fixing pain points related to billing, provisioning, and uptime
Shifting the mindset toward revenue accountability at every level
To position itself competitively alongside private telecom giants, BSNL is actively expanding its 4G footprint across multiple circles. But network alone isn't the endgame — the company is also investing in enterprise-focused innovation.
New initiatives announced include:
Rollout of IFTv (Interactive FTTH TV) and BiTV (BSNL Interactive TV) for mobile customers
Launch of BSNL’s national Wi-Fi roaming for better public access
Bespoke VPN services and leased-line solutions tailored for enterprises
Development of Captive Non-Public Networks (CNPN) to serve high-stakes, mission-critical sectors
Stronger emphasis on spam-free, secure networks
An additional highlight of the review was the introduction of the BSNL Business Associate (BBA) portal — a platform designed to onboard youth and aspiring entrepreneurs into BSNL’s sales network. By offering a chance to earn commissions while expanding digital access, the initiative aims to empower local communities and deepen BSNL’s on-ground presence.
Minister Scindia lauded BSNL’s fresh initiatives and underlined the importance of outcome-driven execution — with a clear focus on customer experience, operational efficiency, and revenue growth.
